BEREAVEMENT GROUP
This Ministry’s purpose is to be a support system and counsellor for those experiencing grief and loss and seeking encouragement from parish family and community, offering confidentiality, patience and an open ear.
At St. Philip’s Parish Church, our diverse organizations each have a special purpose, working together to enhance worship, provide comfort, promote health, and foster community spirit. From the Altar Guild to the Youth Ministry, these groups support our mission of service and fellowship, ensuring every member of our community feels welcomed and valued.
If you want to be part of an organization, you must first be a member of the church. Then, you could volunteer to participate in their events.
When choosing an organization, consider your skill sets, interests, and your activity within the church to find the best fit for you.
When you become a member of the church, be sure to mention your hobbies, interests, and skills on the Information Sheet.

Our mission group was commissioned in 2001 so that we may fulfil our duties as servants of Christ. Our outreach includes visits to the senior citizen homes, the house bound and taking part in other church ministries.
This is a place for men to come together and fellowship through the word of God. We uplift one another in life and grow in faith each day.
The Altar Guild, also known Flower Guild is responsible for the beautification of the church.
Our youth ministry focuses on engaging young people, in spiritual growth, community building, and Christian education. The goal is to nurture and guide them in their faith journey.
We are a Christian organisation consisting of parents and we believe that through faith and prayer, we can do our work for God. We focus on marriage and family life, supporting widows, shut ins, orphans and marginalised women.
Our choir is used for ministering both the congregation and each other through songs and hymnals in services at the church. Choir practice is held on Friday evenings at 4:00 p.m.
Our guild was created to meet and welcome persons attending services. We are keepers of doors and breakers of barriers, bearers of good news and friends to strangers. We are Leaders of worship, examples of reverence and guides to comfort.
Our church army was introduced in 1897. We function as battalions within the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Barbados, offering special ministries of evangelism, pastoral care, outreach to the poor, inactive members and the unchurched within the parish.
The Health Guild was founded in August 2001 and our purpose is to assist all persons in the parish family in the event of emergencies and to promote healthy lifestyles and practices. We organise health lectures on diabetes, hypertension, prostate cancer and disaster preparedness as well as carry out quarterly blood pressure and blood sugar checks after church.
The Altar Servers Guild dates back to the early church. Men were selected by the Incumbent to assist him in the sanctuary, carrying the Priest’s books, reading lessons and assisting at the Eucharist. Now, we lead congregations, carry the processional cross and torches and the Thurible with incense. St. Philip Parish Church was the first church in Barbados to allow females to serve at the altar in the 1970s.
The St. Philip Parish Church has been a beacon in my development from childhood to adulthood. There were a number of individuals, both men and women, who portrayed great spiritual values. Those values impacted on my life in a positive way and played an influential role in who I am today.
St. Philip's Parish Church has been a cornerstone in my life, offering guidance, a sense of belonging, and opportunities for personal growth. Its teachings have instilled values of kindness, empathy, and service, shaping me into the person I am today.
