Angela Phillips was born on September 4th 1952 to Ms. Vernese Walcott and Mr. Lamonte Griffith at Belle Land, My Lord’s Hill, St. Michael.

In her formative years, Rev. Angela was educated at Belmont Primary School, The St. Michael’s Girls’ School and the Barbados Community College. She furthered her studies at the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP) and later at the University of the West Indies where she gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology.

Rev. Angela was a member of St. Barnabas Church where she ministered as a Sunday School Teacher. She later worshipped at the Christ Church Parish Church, after moving to the parish, and served as a Eucharistic Minister, caring for the sick and shut-in members. She joined the Church Army and became 1st Lieutenant. As a member of the Army’s Social Outreach Group, she worked in the communities across Christ Church assisting the poor and needy.

Rev. Angela began her work life in 1970 as a teacher before joining the banking sector a year later. She remained in banking until 2003, when she entered Codrington College to study for the Ordained Ministry. One year after completing her training, Rev. Angela was ordained to the Deaconate in 2004 and to the Priesthood in 2005. She was appointed Priest-in-Charge of St Patrick Church in January 2006 and Rector in 2010, the post she held until her retirement in October 2022.

As Rector of St. Patrick, Rev. Angela worked tirelessly with various organisations in the church to improve the church’s ministry and its physical structures – the church building, church hall and rectory. She became an integral part of the community of St. Patrick caring for families, especially the elderly and children. She regularly visited the Gordon Walters Primary School as part of her Outreach ministry to the community and young people.
